Football shows its heart

world football giving day
World Football Giving Day is a global moment of collective giving that mobilises the power, reach and culture of football to support communities creating positive change around the world.
Taking place on 26 May, following UN World Football Day, it establishes a recurring moment in the football calendar that invites athletes, clubs, brands, community organisations, fans and institutions to come together and give back.

Guided by the unifying call “Football Shows Its Heart,” the initiative creates a shared platform for action. Giving can take many forms — from donations and fundraising to storytelling, community events, commitments and acts of solidarity.

In a time marked by growing division, uncertainty and funding scarcity, World Football Giving Day highlights football’s unique ability to connect people, strengthen communities and expand opportunities for young people worldwide.

Because when football comes together, it can do more than inspire.

It can give back.
It can show its heart.

What it means
Giving can take many forms — from donations and commitments to acts of solidarity and voices raised for a cause.

From athletes to communities, from brands to fans, from institutions to the wider football ecosystem,
World Football Giving Day is a moment when we collectively choose:
Love over hate.
Connection over division.
Opportunity over exclusion.
Community over isolation.

By sharing #WeAreIn and the heart gesture, anyone can show their personal and collective commitment.

Football has a unique ability to bring people together and create positive change.
Through my work with Common Goal, I’ve seen how collective action can empower communities and channel the passion of the game toward real social impact. World Football Giving Day builds on that same spirit — creating a moment where the whole football community can unite, not for wins on the pitch, but for the wellbeing of people off it. I’m proud to support it.”

Football has given me so much — my team, my community, my purpose.
Supporting World Football Giving Day means giving back to the organisations working every day to support young people and communities who don’t always have the same opportunities. I’m proud to stand behind it and help amplify what’s possible when we give together.”
